Google Classroom disappearing from App Launcher

Hi,

 

Anyone else have the Google Classroom icon go missing from the App Launcher? It seems to be an old issue that is happening randomly to some staff. Google Support is pretty much useless at this point and appears to be grasping at straws (having gone thru 4 different agents):

 

1. insisting that I enable the Classroom service for everyone (it already is on for the Staff OU and they can use the service; they just want the icon back) or
2. that I try enabling Search and Assistant for everyone which is not covered by the Google Workspace for Education agreement and requires me to get parental consent (which also does not make sense since this service has ALWAYS been turned off for us and some users don’t have the problem).

 

Has anyone here managed to get it addressed?

I have seen this happen with the Admin Icon, Maybe get the users to go directly to the class page and see if the icon reappears....https://classroom.google.com/

Hi Marlon,

I have found it disappears if you are on the new tab page but if you are on an edu page eg drive then it is there.

Could you please try with a new tab and then go to drive.google.com and try again ?

I have seen a bug already added for this but wanted to double check your experience here too.

Hi Steve,

 

Yes, that’s correct. That’s the only way they can get the Classroom back into the app launcher is to go to drive.google.com.
