Hi guys,

Has anyone experience this issue that when N4L migrate the school's Ruckus SZ to a new cluster you've lost your access and notice some changes has been made to the configuration of your WLAN? (Probably reset to default config!).  I've been in contact with their TechSupport for some time now and still not avail to resolve the issue. I got multiple school under the account and only that school that has been migrated lost my access. Other schools are still available. They say it need to be escalated to a higher level support. Don't know what has happened, but my gut feeling is someone has made an error. Since I don't have visibility, can't see what has been changed.

I haven’t noticed it specifically after a cluster migration, but we have had several schools who’ve disappeared off our logins and need to be re-added. Unsure what they have to do but it’s definitely not front line techs who resolve it.
I don’t think any config changes have been made in our cases.

Updates on this issue - I can now access the Ruckus SZ controller but it seems that this migrated school to a new controller (cluster) will ONLY show as a separate one. The account credential will only hold this zone unlike before when I login to the SZ I can see all the school I'm managing. They say it is for load balancing. And I can confirm that there has been some changes on the configuration because the channel on 5G (80Mhz to 40Mhz) has been modified. No one informed me on this which is a big drop on our wifi performance.

Also most of the AP's Mesh mode has been enabled which is not ideal if they are on wired after the migration.

Getting annoyed now having issues with those AP's from the backup controller and not getting client connectivity. It suppose to be working that is why it's called backup! Lost some AP's on the MAP view and the switches some of them NOT showing what is connected to their ports (neighbor). All happened after the migration to the new cluster. Need to check all the settings now from my point of view.

I never understood the point of the 'backup controller' because as you said and what I've found, is that when they fall back to it they stop working and you have to get N4L to get them back as they dont seem to find their way back automatically or in a timely fashion.

Hi Arnold,

I share your frustrations with the cloud controllers. We have our own frustrations with the controllers that will never get fixed :( and have had to implement some monitoring and workarounds.

If you have some programming skills, the controllers have an API that you can access - https://{ControllerHostName}:8443/wsg/apiDoc

We use the API quite extensively. Just watch how quickly you hit the controller otherwise it will crash. They don't implement 429 - Too Many Requests. Sorry to those last year who were affected by us slamming it :)

Cheers,
Jonathan.

Exactly! It should be working as what it is designed for. So I need to check their IP addresses to make sure they are on the main controller, otherwise clients will not getting connectivity even though they connected to the AP's. It's probably related to the MAC authentication if they are coming from the backup controller.
