Howdy,

We've recently dived-in on using exam.net and i was wondering what you'll do with byod chromebooks being that a chromebook has to be managed and have a kiosk profile setup for these types of exams.

Do you just get teachers to use the non-secure mode?

Or how many full byod schools are using exam.net?

Simon.

Hi Simon,

we are fully into Exam.net and we ask students with BYOD chromebooks to take a Chromebook from the Exam.net Chromebook trolley. I keep around 22 Chromebooks in that trolley dedicated to Exam.net - they can't be used for anything else.

There is a setting within Exam.net where the test can downgrade itself to medium security if it detects it is not using a managed browser (Exam.net Chromebook or Safe Exam Browser or Exam.net IOS or Android app). This is a per-test setting; I have seen a few teachers use this setting with the manual unlock option and it seems to suit their needs.

Hope this helps.

Regsrds,
Mark

Yes, the non-secure or medium security seems to be the only work around, it's just reminding teachers.
Not sure we can do a trolley worth of dedicated exam.net chromebooks, not this year at least.
My internal stash of ~50 chromebooks for long term loans is all but depleted, they just do not take care of their devices.

Simon.
