Kia ora, I have a school who are starting to use Minecraft in their classrooms.  A teacher is hosting a world on their WIndows laptop but finding that no iPads can connect.  I have tested on my Mac and can connect to the host fine.  Are iPads still the unwanted child when it comes to Minecraft or are we missing  something obvious here? :)

I will go back to reading the documentation.

Apologies for my premature sending of the previous email.

Block was simple in the end -
Settings - Privacy & Security - Local Network  (toggle Minecraft setting). (Now I have to see if I can set a profile within Jamf School to do this when Minecraft is pushed out)

I see the world now to connect but now times out when attempting.

iPad to Windows should work fine - check the version of Minecraft: Education on the Windows host is the same as the client iPads - I've not played with this in a while, but there used to be issues with mis-matched versions between host and client application.

There are also some whitelisted URL required that you may need to get N4L to modify on your firewall:

Cheers

Thanks Sam, iPads running 1.19.53 laptop running 1.20.12 - you could be the saviour on this one.  Thanks.  I have pushed out an update to the iPads and will have the teacher test later today.

cheers

Just closing this one off now that the teacher has tested.  Looks like the combination of version mismatch and Settings - Privacy & Security - Local Network was the issue,  Updated and allowed LAN in settings..  happy classes now :)

Thanks for your pointer Sam,
