Hi All,

Happy New Year.

We have found that the when using MacBook Airs (and possibly other devices) that our new Epson projectors (535w) with HDMI they will quite regularly “green screen” - unplugging/plugging sometimes fixes this, but other times does not.

We have also found that a successful connection via HDMI can “green screen” consistently by simply changing the resolution of the projector screen - even reverting the resolution back to a previously successful resolution does not always fix the issue.

We can replicate this problem consistently.

Given so many of our students use MacBooks and are only likely to connect via HDMI we really need to get a fix for this. Has anyone else seen this issue before?

Regards,

Sam

I don't have the new projectors, but i've seen something similar on the older ones with VGA inputs using hdmi to VGA converters from apple gear.  When the projector checks for signal (the autoswitch function in the projector) this causes the hdmi signal to drop at the apple end and then re-connect. Since the 535w has multiple inputs, something similar might be happening.
I did two things to fix The first is to disable the auctoscan for signal on the projector, and the second is not applicable here. I wonder if its a similar issue for you

Thanks

In the end, it appears to have been the third party mini display port to HDMI adaptor. We changed brands and could not replicate the issue.

Thanks

Some of the mini display port adaptors are more compatible than others. Based on experience we now tend to just use the Apple ones – a bit more expensive but less hassles.
