Wearing my "Sovereign AI Aotearoa New Zealand" hat I am pleased to share this event on Monday 13 October, in-person in Wellington, and also online for those unfortunate enough to live elsewhere :-)

Thanks to the wonderful Ed Strafford, a colleague in the Ministry 15-ish years ago and now again at Catalyst CLoud, we invite you to join us and listen to David Coblentz of NZCER provide research-based insights into:
  • teacher adoption patterns,
  • what students say they’re doing (and worrying about), and
  • where schools are missing guidance.
We'll also discuss what AI sovereignty could mean in education in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Then we can close with some practical steps for boards, leaders, kaiako, and whānau to support constructive and equitable AI use in Years 5–8.

Paul.

PS I am pleased to have an on-topic post to contribute to this community.

With 86 people already registered, part 1 of AI in education feels like it is needed.

Would some of you please help us prepare subsequent parts with an education focus by suggesting vendors/providers/products that incorporate aspects of sovereign AI and are in use here in NZ. Or practitioners that are focused on localising or otherwise mitigating the risks associated with "importing" all the AI in use.

We intend to hold at least a part 2 featuring two "case studies", but are open to more sessions if we had sufficient examples to showcase.

Thank you.
