Hi,

Anyone else having problems making Forticlient work on the latest HP 865 with the AMD chip running Win11 22H2? We’ve recently received 2 units and both refuse to connect to the Fortigate. We’ve tried downloading the latest from the web but that also fails. No problem on 840s and 850s (Intel chips) on both Win10 and Win11 both of which are on 22H2.

Any chance you could try out the suggestions here for a workaround?

Hi David,

Thanks. We tried some of the steps but unfortunately, it looks like a SSL VPN problem. We use IPSEC with N4L’s Fortigates. We’re trying downgrading driver versions to Win10 ones since it seems to fix it for Realtek cards but our units are using Qualcomms.

Hi Marlon,

One of the N4L team will reach out shortly and grab some details from you - we will get a ticket logged with our vendor to investigate.

Thanks Mark.

We normally test all our apps and processes with new models but TELA didn’t have a demo unit available and these 2 were up for renewal (we had been expecting that the HP 850 replacement would be the Z book which we fully tested but the carpet got pulled from under us and we’re suddenly told we only have the 865 as an option).

I don’t see this being communicated but it appears to be a driver issue. N4L is looking into it but I’d advise anyone getting an HP 865 G9 to downgrade the OS back to Win10.

Our own internal testing seems to indicate a problem with the NDIS driver, as disassociating it from the Wi-Fi interface allows Forticlient to connect but then none of the SMB drives work either so a pretty pointless workaround for us.

There were some changes to VPN handling in the August update: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-11-kb5028254-update-fixes-vpn-performance-issues-27-bugs/
Is that update applied?  [VPNs, in general, have been suffering immensely with the MS patches over the last few months.]

Note:  This end uses Zerotier, including hosting our controller and moons/nodes.

I wonder if this is related to my existing VPN Issue being unable to ping the local host causing problems due to Modern Standby in newer hardware. Such as the HP 840 G8.

There is a fix/work-around if you go into the Wireless (or if you are using USB-C Thunderbolt) adapter... and disable the setting "NS Offload for WOWLAN" or just "NS Offload" or similar advanced setting.

I have posted about the VPN issue on Geekzone https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=86&topicid=306644

And it does smell rather similar.

Hi all,

I've tried posting a couple of itmes and it keeps getting deleted. I wonder if this is because it has a link to an .exe file on the HP download website?

Here is the screenshot of the message with a link to the driver if you want to download and try it:

Looks like the screenshot was removed as well - trying to post the driver download link as shortened URL:

Sorry for the multiple posts.

So the screenshot was deleted - I expect some OCR security seeing the .exe but here's the original message:

" Hi all,

I had a message from our TELA+ support team that had esclated this issue with HP.

The feedback was:

"uninstall Qualcomm driver from the device running Win11 and install this one instead.... (link removed as keeps getting deleted)"

This was apparently tested with another school and it resolved the issue for them, so if you're still having issues with this, you may want to explore this new driver option instead..

Cheers

Sam

PS - if you cna't get the link above to work, message me directly.
