Hi folks

Yesterday we lost some functionality with SMTP using smtp.gmail.com  -  it has affected our printers scanning to email, all the local utilities we have developed over the years to email us when tasks happen, as well as preventing VeeAm from telling us that backups have been completed.

The odd thing is that when I use mailsend with relay.n4l.co.nz (instead of smtp.gmail.com) it works OK with the same credentials etc....
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues, or is it just us?

Thanks

Google has tightened their security so you need to create an app password now to use that functionality rather than the using the user password.

The N4L relay doesn't require credentials, so that's why it just works by changing the server address.

Been using the n4l relay for a long time now, so can't say for the google side...

Although, have you logged into whatever gmail account(s) you're using, via the web interface?
Weirdly i got a message on my gmail the other day saying i need to activate in order to continue to receive or send email. Tried googling the message but could find anything.
So i wonder if the account(s) your using have been 'paused'.

Hi Bill,

Our SMTP goes through N4Ls or our own on prem server but what did break was Papercuts email to print which  for students use to print from their BYOD.

We had to set up the Google Cloud oAuth Ap for it to work again.
