With another hat on....
I am looking for a reasonably priced laptop for a non-profit community group, if you think you might be able to help I'd appreciate some contact.

There are plenty of good laptops on Trademe. Normally around the $200 mark you get something fairly good. I picked up a Thinkpad T430 which works very well for me for personal use.

But I highly recommend installing a SSD if it only has a normal spinning disk and then as long as it has 8GB of ram it should fly. Ideally 256GB or 512GB SSD. So all up $400 to get what you need and you're done.

You can go a fair way on a 120ish Gb SSD if you're not dealing with media files.

PB Tech often have good deals too, and they have shop fronts too I think.

Pbtech have actual stores in a few centres - I've had fairly good dealings with them. They're a good source of cheap Western digital ssds too 😊

Pctraders are the other place with ex-lease, though I've only been involved with desktops from them.

If the culture of your community group is open to different ways of doing things - maybe a Chromebook?  Very cheap, and ways does what it says it will do - few settings to confuse / stuff up things.  Similar story with the size of the SSD - 120 is plenty if people don't save stuff to it.

I suggest you look at https://shop.remarkit.co.nz/ . I've known the owner of the place since it started, and totally support his way of doing business (except his online store is a bit lacking.  Also, last week Di Daniels was made a fellow of InternetNZ.  Short bio is here: https://internetnz.nz/blog/four-new-fellows-internetnz but most relevant to you is
"Di is now engaged as the Social Responsibility Manager for Remarkit Solutions, essentially recycling corporate computer equipment to challenged communities."
Might relate to your organisation? Maybe not.

Good luck!   Steve
