Kia ora, I have been asked to look at migrating a local RTLB who have been using Office 2016 with a serial number from their host school to using O365.  Does anyone have pointers to good documentation to setup a 2nd domain under the host school and NOT have to allocate school domain accounts to pickup Microsoft licenses?

I explored having the RTLB in question have their on MS tenant under the education agreement but this was a solid no from Cyclone.

Any recommendations are welcome.  How are you setting up if you are a host school?

Morning William,

Yes I have been through this drama years ago and it's in the too hard basket for the MOE IT to separate RTLB from host school (we actually went through a host school change which made things a nightmare), anyway it's easy enough to use the host school tenant and create policies for the RTLB staff and devices and keep it separate from the school setup. Our RTLB cluster uses Google workspace for all the productivity and collaboration and we use MS for device management, we setup an Intune autopilot to onboard new Tela laptops and to manage software, WIFI, printers, OneDrive etc.

Give me a yell if you want any specifics

Intune is awesome once setup correctly, we can setup around 40 laptops easily in a morning, most of the time is taken up unboxing them!

Hi Mark, group

Do you use Intune to also manage the Apps (and rules for Autopilot of those devices depending on group tags assigned?)
I am currently doing this, and assigning the endpoint user to those devices so they can later self-manage apps in the Company Portal.

I do currently place apps in input/output folders and have scripts/shortcuts ready to create intunewin files but this is the bit that sometimes needs testing (for example I have two for filemaker, one to upgrade from an existing version, another as a full installer for a totally new device without filemaker) - I seem to spend a bit more time keeping Apps up-to-date without a 3rd party solution or Store app.

Most of the other stuff, print drivers, policies, wifi etc its all mostly easy, other than keeping apps up to date for self-service.

Matt
