Is anyone using this already? -

I'm wondering things like:
* What services can it be used for (now and in future)?
* Where students had existing, separate logins to those systems (looking at you, NZQA) how will marrying up user identities work? (NSN?)

I haven't read this 76-page document...
... but from a quick skim through, page 62 shows Assessment Master being connected, and page 63 mentions N4L Cloudpath (Secure Access).

hi Ben
As authour of the 76-pager, I'd recommend starting with the more digestible 12 page plain language summary.  For detail you will need the main document though.

In terms of services connected, the PIA was written at a point in time the project was working towards the NZQA results & assessment master services.  Plus eduroam for internet access.  For various reasons those didn't extend beyond the pilot.
There are services and schools connected, we're checking what we can say publicly.

thanks
Rgds Alan

Hi Ben,

The Privacy Assessment on the Ministry website will be superseded with a newer PIA in March. This will reflect a change in naming from DI4OL to LIB ,changes to our architecture diagram and applications using the LIB.

NZQA access is not currently available via the broker at this stage. However, the newly announced SMART assessment application will be connected and available for use later this year, as well as other applications under the LIB eco-system.

Q: What services can it be used for (now and in future)?

A: The next application to connect is the SMART Application later this year. Once connected it will streamline access to online assessments by allowing learners to sign in using their existing school Google or Microsoft accounts.

We will publish a roadmap of applications we plan to connect to the broker onto the Ministry site.

Q: Where students had existing, separate logins to those systems (looking at you, NZQA) how will marrying up user identities work? (NSN?)

A: If a school already has access to an application, we will work with those approved providers to connect to the broker. If the school is connected to those applications using Google or Microsoft, students should have a seamless transition.

If an application uses a separate authentication method, there is likely to be a transition period where a student can use their Schools Microsoft or Google account or their application credentials.

Identity matching uses the NSN (Primary), Name and Email address.

Note: we've also added a blurb about it in today's Ed Bulletin to Principals so they may be looking at it as well.
