Grammarly is widely used for grammar checks, tone adjustments, and even content generation. But can Grammarly detect AI writing? The answer is no. Grammarly is built as a writing assistant, not an AI detector. It improves clarity, fixes errors, and offers style suggestions, but cannot confirm if the text comes from ChatGPT or other AI tools.
What Grammarly can do:
• Grammar and spelling correction
• Tone and style improvements
• Plagiarism checks that highlight copied content
In tests, Grammarly’s plagiarism tool flagged 4% of a ChatGPT sample as plagiarized. This shows it can detect overlap but not AI authorship. If you want AI detection, tools like Originality AI or Undetectable AI are more reliable. Grammarly remains useful for polishing your work, but for AI detection, you need specialized platforms.
