Just letting everyone know. It's a pretty well written request also so
I'll put it right onto the wiki. Here's the request in case anyone is
interested:

---------------------------------------------------------------

Name George Heake
Email haiti.disabi...@gmail.com
Phone Number (215) 589-9261
Organization Institute on Disabilities, Temple University

Address
1755 N. 13th Street Philadelphia, PA 19122 Student Activity Center
Suite 411, PA Philadelphia
United States

Please summarize the project/idea in one or two sentences.
Making a humanitarian relief for disabilties site on Ning accessible
wcag 2.0

Please give a detailed description of your project/idea.
In my haste of organizing an international response for the disability
and other at risk groups in haiti, I created a ning site, and quickly
grew with some of the top disability policy makers and advocates in
the US and it is growing steadily. I am at a cross road here. One
suggestion was possiblly created social network community using the
plone CMS system and migrate exisiting members over or try to fix
existing ning site which is located at http://haiti-disability.ning.com/

How would you prioritize this request?
High

Please provide any additional information about existing project
resources, constraints, or specific information about the technical
resources you might require.
WCAG 2.0 Experts

Please describe who will benefit from this project/idea, and how they
will.
The disability community in Haiti and neighboring countries in the
region, will benefit from a social network of earthquake victims and
agencies and individuals that will be responding, who will be people
with disabilities and will require a social network to sustain the
recovery period. The international disability in general will benefit
from an accessible social network and hopefully will use as a standard
to follow.

Keep in mind that Ning users cannot be migrated because that's shared data across all Ning sites and they don't make it available.

That's not the scope of our project, but I feel it's important to point out nonetheless.

Excellent!

Just finished a conference call w folks from various camps, heather
here in dc, and a gent way out in new Zealand!

Notes of Importance with regards to techaid:

• A need for techaid absolutely exists. Everyone was saying how
there were all these ideas flying around for projects at the camps but
no one stepped forward to submit them
• Gavin from new Zealand proposed using a crm his org sahana and
trinity uni.nz have developed.
• Liza from NYC can help us integrate the form into the crisiscommons.o
rg site powered by drupal
• Chad from LA can help with tying the intake process with the yet to
be developed volunteer repository/CRM
• A woman in Miami knows a man who has data management needs for
shipping logistics - keep an eye out for another request, provided she
passes our details on to him.

Thanks guys!

I just got the wiki updated for the new project. Having gone through
this even one time, it is apparent that there is a real need to
STANDARDIZE this process. There was conflicting information on how to
request a new project in the wiki. I tried to clarify this but there
is still the http://wiki.crisiscommons.org/wiki/Requests page. I'm not
sure if this is just left over from before or it is there for some
other reason.

During the next meetup (or before?) we should figure out how to get
all parties who have worked on the project creation/management process
together so we can all get on the same page.

Yeah I think the Requests page is old and is now moot.

I agree we should at least get a conf call in at least once to figure
out an approach and divvy up who wants to do what. I like the linkdin
idea. I wonder if linkdin allows a group administrator to search for
specific skills, set up work groups and assign people to them? I will
look for the contact info from the other folks' who expressed an
interest during this evening's call. I think I have Chad's info.

I'm availabe in tues/weds/friday evenings this week after 9pm.

Thx

* I uploaded my notes from last week into our Google Group.
* The following is a link to all of my TechAid related bookmarks: http://delicious.com/evrabel/techaid
* We have our first project request! Wufoo!
* I've heard that we might get snow this weekend. This might effect attendance. I would be coming up from Richmond and we have 2 members from Baltimore...
* LinkedIn is an interesting idea. It would save us designing/coding/implementing a custom solution. It would nice to be able to have a concept of status for the volunteers. I would be useful to have statuses of "busy" or "available". If a volunteer was currently working on one project she may be too busy to work on another one. Maybe the volunteer could remove thenselves from the group and then put themselves in when they are ready for a new project.
* We've been designing a solution that uses alot of COTS (Wufoo, LinkedIn, CRM). That's great but it makes the tasking less obvious.

* I agree that we should discuss our approach and tasking ASAP. I would like to be able to have a specific task to work on. This is be really important if some of us cannot make it up Saturday.
