events concepts for 2013

Hi all,

Remember that "philosophy in the pub" about IT around Feb last year?

Any interest in something similar? What would we need to do, to make
a night of it? I think Ian Paulin was MC last time...

During 2012 I put on a few events at the local Engineers Australia
building, and I wouldn't mind having a go at organising something a
bit more like the pub style event as above.

The relevant groups around I can think of are: EA, ACS, tech-tuesday,
hackerspace, startuptas, UTAS, CSIRO, Telstra, Aurora, Transend,
Hydro, Antarctic Division, YPNT, local contractors, both young and
established local companies ie usual suspects from recent ICT awards
nights, and more?!

Please let me know what you think? Any tips, resources, or assistance
would be welcome!

PS. I also had an idea of putting on a collection of 7 short clips (40
min total) by hiring out the state cinema in Nth Hobart (roughly $500
for 30 people say $15 or $20 pp incl bit of local cheese & wine
beforehand) that I have *personally* ;) chosen from vimeo but need to
seek permission by corro from the film authors...

He was, i might add that he was a good one.

Does this mean at a pub or just in the same vibe as the philosophy night?

Think i missed something here though - somehow we jump to an awards night?
