Nominate an Unsung Hero for Freedom from Fear Award by Feb 28th

This month is your opportunity to nominate someone for the Freedom from Fear Award. Nominations will be accepted until February 28th for this new national award “to honor ordinary people who have committed extraordinary acts of courage on behalf of immigrants and refugees—individuals who have taken a risk, set an example, and inspired others to awareness or action."

What's special about this award is that it will recognize unsung s/heroes who are not professional advocates. Based on nominations from people like you, awardees will receive a $5,000 cash award. It’s a very short application that only takes a few minutes to complete.

We know that there are countless people from all walks of life (workers, teachers, students, parents, nurses, doctors, clergy, sheriffs, mayors, farmers, small business owners, etc.) and every part of the country who are stepping up to help make this a more inclusive, just and humane society. Please help the Award to recognize fifteen of these outstanding individuals.

Five great ways to help:

  • Send an E-blast to your membership list highlighting the award, video and deadline coming up fast. This is what is most needed right now.
  • Ask one or more of your partner networks to E-blast to their members, especially in the categories listed above.
  • Print and post a copy of the beautiful poster by Favianna Rodriguez in your office where lots of people will see it.
  • Share via your social networking tools.
  • NOMINATE someone great by February 28th here!
