Dear Internationals,

The DREAM Act is coming up for a vote later this week.  Please see the two e-mails below (from the New York Immigration Coalition) for suggestions on who to call and what to say.

Thank you so much for passing along this information to the fantastic international teachers & staff, every call counts! See below and check out our page on our website for updates and more information on the DREAM Act. www.thenyic.org/dreamact

Here’s how you can take action right now:

Call 866-967-6018 and ask to be speak to one of the five Congress members below.  By using this one switchboard number for all of your calls, you'll ensure that all the calls are correctly logged in and counted.

   * Congressman Michael Arcuri
   * Congressman John Hall
   * Congressman William Owens
   * Congressman Scott Murphy
   * Congressman Dan Maffei

 Here is a sample script for your calls:

   * I am calling because there is going to be a vote on the DREAM Act later this week and I am concerned where the Congressman stands.
   * Our community is united in support of this important legislation.
   * I hope the Congressman understands that it will be unacceptable if he did not vote "Yes" to pass the DREAM Act.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Silvia

Dear Friend,

We need your help.
Next week, the DREAM Act is expected to come up for a vote in the House and Senate.
In light of the recent election outcomes, many feel that this is the last chance to pass this essential legislation for at least the next two years.

Next Monday and Tuesday (11/29 & 11/30) have been designated as national days of action.  The New York Immigration Coalition has set a goal to generate at least 2,500 phone calls to the five New York Members of Congress (Rep. Arcuri, Rep. Hall, Rep. Owens, Rep. Murphy, Rep. Maffei) who have not confirmed whether they will vote “Yes” on the Dream Act.

Can you and your organization commit to making calls next Monday and Tuesday?  Every single phone call counts so regardless of whether you can make 20 calls or 200 calls, please reply to this email and let me know.  We need to hear back from all groups by Sunday night to ensure that we meet our goals.

As soon as we hear back from you, I’ll send along a simple script and the phone number details.  In most cases, we’ll just assign you to one member of Congress to keep your outreach simple.

Thank you for everything that you do.   And happy Thanksgiving!!
