I was a bit dissapointed that only myself and Griff were able to
attend this meeting.

However, we discussed the following things:

1. Working at Height; We have heard, from the HSE website, the
statement "we haven't banned the use of ladders". The Wolverhampton
Grand and mac continue to use ladders, having recorded our current
practices in Risk Assessments. The Wolverhampton Grand conducts
Working at Height training for their staff.

Would you all please reply with your current way of using ladders?

2. Child Protection Act; It seems that many youth theatres and
amateur groups need to be aware of, and address this legislation.
Local authorities don't appear to be consistent in their
interpretation of this legislation.

3. Work Experience; Wolverhampton Grand does offer places, but only
for 19 year old or more. They ensure placements are following a
vocational course. mac offer placements for 14 to 19 year olds, for a
minimum of 2 weeks.

4. Radio Mic Frequencies; We can expect a delay in this change over,
around 2012. The delay is believed to come from the Broadcast
sector. In live performance we believe digital systems will introduce
a significant delay, leading to an unacceptable lip-sync delay.
Whilst broadcast can delay vision signals to sync with digital sound,
live performance isn't albe. We will need to retain analogue radio
mics.

Next meeting; The previous meeting was well attended, and linked with
a Selecon product demostration. We believe it will be more useful to
link these meetings with another event, such as a product demo,
visiting speaker or presentation, tour of new or recently refurbished
venue.

I will set the next meeting to coincide with an event that one of you
suggest. Please reply to me with suggestions. I believe we need at
least 2 weeks notice.

Happy hunting, Sebastian.
