Thanks to AbuseFilter, Appropedia has much better spam control now. It also lets us put a "tag" on edits by new and anon users, so we can display only those:
If you've set up AbuseFilter extension on your wiki and you'd like our code, let us know. (We had to write the code, as AbuseFilter is empty to begin with.)

Thanks to all those who help with patrolling changes on Appropedia, keeping it free of spam and keeping everything.
I want to share a new tool - a RecentChanges feed that shows only anonymous and new users (which is where all our spam comes from):
http://www.appropedia.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&tagfilter=n
I want to focus on improving our spam filter, and developing an intern program for Appropedia, so I'm cutting back to checking once per day - nighttime, eastern Australia time (UTC+10). I'm not sure what time other Appropedians do their patrol, but if we have a few more at different times, and with an improved spam filter, we should be set.
More helpful links & info:
Appropedia:Recent Changes Patrol
And if anyone notices a new pattern in spam hitting the site, let me know and I'll work on building that into the spam filter.
Thanks again!
