Hi Belle,
There's a couple possible options. Does your smartphone have a slot for an external memory card? If so the map files can be loaded onto the memory card and read oj the phone from there. For instance, I use an 8GB mini SD card on my phone for extra memory to store maps, track notes, resupply info, photos, etc. I keep a small memory card reader in my bounce box just in case I need to transfer files from the card to another device/computer. Even though my phone has about 2GB of internal memory most of it is used up for other functions and the 8GB seems to work pretty well.
Should your phone have lots of onboard internal memory an external card may not be necessary. Maybe pm one of the trail techies, like Charlie Barran or Hilton Melva Ward on FB for more specific info.
Good luck!
Judith

Hi Fellow Trekkers,
This question may have already been answered in a previous post however I
have not found it. I am doing the trail this year and I am a total novice
at smart phones. Can any one tell me how I go about downloading the trail
maps onto my smart phone.
Cheers
Belle
