to Te Araroa – New Zealand’s Long Pathway
On 20th April in the company of 5 others who just happened to be
finishing on the same day, I reached Stirling Point Bluff and the end
of Te Araroa. However this not being quite enough, I decided to extend
this to "Te Araroa Plus" so went and hiked the SW Circuit on Stewart
Island too.

So now it really is done. I spent 180 days on the trail. Wonderful.

All my posts have been over on the Facebook group, but when I have my
tuppence worth of documentation completed I'll post it here for good
measure.

I'm planning to do a highly summarized (but hopefully sufficient)
"Thru-Hiker's Mini-Guide to the Te Araroa", to include places to stay
and resupply info with GPS co-ordinates. It won't be all encompassing,
but it might convince one or two people that they know enough to
start. They'll quickly find that they can do it easily anyway!

If there are specific questions that anyone can't find answers to
elsewhere, then I'd be happy to share what I know.

What can't be guaranteed is that any other year will have the
outstanding, brilliant weather we have had in the South Island for the
last 2 months, or the pretty ordinary conditions up on the North
Island earlier on. But then that's all part of the fun!

Well you have now seen a LOT more of New Zealand than most of us. Congratulations
