Arrived in Huntley, Attention Teararoa, been a suicide off the Rangiri
bridge, police and rescue attempts into day three, the track into
Huntley has been closed the steps after the bridge have been ripped
up, supposedly by police, as the area is a search zone and they do not
want hikers finding the body.

I can understand the closure, but what do you mean by "the steps after
the bridge have been ripped up"?

What I meant by the steps have been ripped up, is that the stile has been completely removed from the ground and piled in a heap on the properties side of the barbed fence.
