Workshop is $50 and open to 6-12 participants. (if there are less than
six participants the workshop will be cancelled)
Facilitator: Stuart Norman, aka Cyrwyn, The Leatherfaerie Shaman
Radical Faeries used to be very open and free regarding sexual
relationships, but AIDS took it's toll and we've fallen back into more
conventional sexual relating. Leatherfolk, especially gay males, the
hardest hit by the early AIDS crisis because of their radical sex
exploration, have continued this evolution of sex into communalizing
sexuality. How and why can't we be sexually open with our brothers?
How can faeries bring this openness back?
We already know how to practice safe and low risk sex, so that's not a
good reason to be sexually off limits with many others. It's our
insecurities,
prejudices and false expectations that prevent openness.
Sex isn't just fucking or for breeding. Sex is a work to pursue. Most people
learn sex in a haphazard way and can't even imagine and may not
explore the many possibilities that exist. Sex can be a discipline, a
skill, a practice, a yoga, a way of pleasure, a way of love, a way of
healing, a way of
communication, a way of knowledge, a spiritual path, a magickal
practice and many other things. Tantric sex is a sexual and spiritual
discipline that is
perhaps the most commonly known practice, although few people actually
know much about it or practice it. It is only one of the many possible
tantras.
Sexual magick is one of the most powerful and accessible ways to practice
magick. It provides us a way to channel energies into productive processes.
And in group sex that power increases exponentially.
The condition of sexual ignorance and fear surrounding it in our society is
rampant. There are few sexual teachers. Professional sex therapists don't
practice sex with their clients. Young people don't learn about sex from
sexually knowledgeable, responsible adults. What's wrong with this picture?
One of the worst misconceptions about relating with many others is
that love is conditional and limited. Not so. Loving one is not a
limit to loving
others. Love is infinite. You can love as many people as you like deeply,
totally. The more love you share the more there will be. You can even
learn to give love in casual sexual encounters to your partner without
expectation of receiving it back. Often, jealousy is a problem
limiting our ability to love.
Jealousy is a learned psychopathology, a dysfunctional emotional condition
that comes from insecurity. It makes us possessive of others and
blocks love and so is destructive of relationships. Too many people
believe that jealousy is a sign of deep love. Fortunately, it can be
cured.
This workshop is a challenge to your perceptions of yourself and your
beliefs. Be prepared to be emotionally open, naked, to practice
touching and sexual exercises with others in the group. You will not
be required to have penetrative sex with others, but you may choose to
do so, so you should be willing to be in the presence of sexual
activity. If you are committed to monogamy and happy with that
condition, this workshop may not be for you unless you are interested
in learning about and exploring the possibilities of polyamory and
sexual freedom.
