MORE THAN WORDS:
UNO Magazine's July 2010 Issue Celebrates the Power of the Visual
With every issue, UNO Magazine has become known for delivering the most interesting writing in the country today. Last April, our acclaimed "Stranger Than Truth" issue featured works by Butch Dalisay, Krip Yuson, Sarge Lacuesta, Jimmy Abad, Tara Sering, Menchu Aquino Sarmiento, Robin Hemley and other award-winners, alongside the best of the new breed of writers.
But we know of course that it's not just about the words. UNO has also always been about the arresting, thought-provoking, and (quite frankly) arousing images.
This July, we let our Creative Director, infamous and insanely talented photographer Juan Caguicla, run riot with our first silent issue: a showcase of image and artwork that will make you rethink what a magazine can do.
There will be no words. But there will be the most intriguing, inspiring, and imaginative array of images we can assemble between two covers.
From familiar faces to far-flung vistas, we will take you on a tour of tattooed ladies, red light districts, street scenes, surfers' paradises, and stop to take a look at restaurants, vehicles, gadgets, and a secret destination or two along the way.
And for those who want to go deeper into the stories behind the images, our resident tech guru Jayvee Fernandez will be working closely with the rest of the staff to give you podcasts, interactive features and other web-based material through the UNO site, all taking off from the July issue.
UNO July 2010: Enjoy the silence.
