I figure it was time you all got an update on where we are at with our Mongol Rally preparations. We have been pretty quiet of late, having to focus our attentions on our other ventures and adventures. Now it's time to get back into it. And we need your help.
Unfortunately we have been a little slow in getting our corporate sponsorship letters out and are now looking for your help in identifying - and helping us contact, if you know someone on the inside - companies who may be interested in sponsoring our car for the rally. I have attached our generic sponsorship document that covers the basics of the rally and our participation in it. If you know of anyone who may be interested please feel free to forward this on to them, or let us know their details and we'll do the dirty work. If you believe a targeted/specific document is more appropriate for a certain company, please let us know and we'll make up a custom one. Ideally we would like to get a sponsor in the UK who can supply goods or services we may need, or finances to assist the team's preparations, but we will probably just take anything that comes our way. :) We still have a long "wish list" on the website, much of which may be lying around your house unused and unwanted. If you can help out by providing anything in the list we would also really appreciate it.
We are also about to start sending out press releases, and have attached the first of them to this email also. This is more for your interest, but again if you know of any media organisations that may be interested please feel free to pass it on.
Our Anzac BBQ in Sydney was a great success, despite the heavens ensuring we worked hard for it. We had to move the event indoors at the last minute, however we still managed to raise around $600 through donations and a raffle. Thanks to everyone who came along, as well as 3 Minute Angels and Jet Buzz for their generous prize donations.
We would also like to again thank everyone who has financially supported our charities so far. Thanks to your generosity we have reached our target for one of our charities and are getting incredibly close on another. We have added a third charity to the list, another one focusing on underprivelidged children in Mongolia. So far we have hit an incredible 2000 pounds (AU$5000) and we still have five weeks to go before we set off! If you still have not donated, or have found some extra cash lying around that you don't need, it's not too late to help out. Check the website for more information, and remember this cash goes straight to the charities so you are helping them continue their hard work right away.
For the latest on our preparations check the website, in particular the blog, which we are in the process of updating too. And for those in London, don't forget to keep lunchtime on Saturday 21st June free for the official start at Hyde Park in London. It would be great to have you along to see us off!
