Hello CVCF Members,
Did you know that The San Diego Foundation is the largest scholarship provider in San Diego County outside of the federal government? Last year we awarded $2.2m in scholarships to San Diego County residents.
Our scholarship application is now open! Please help us spread the word by sharing this information with any college-bound student (high school youth or adult) and your professional networks.
OVERVIEW
The San Diego Foundation Community Scholarship Program is the largest private scholarship provider in San Diego County outside of the university systems. Last year, we awarded $2.2 million to nearly 800 students. Our Common Scholarship Application uses one online application to access more than 100 scholarships. These scholarships are funded through the generosity of individual donors who are committed to expanding educational opportunities in our region and have established scholarship funds with The San Diego Foundation.
AWARDS
Scholarships are direct aid - not loans - so they do not have to be repaid. Our scholarships range from $1,000 to more than $5,000 and, depending on the scholarship, can pay for tuition and fees, room and board, books and other related expenses. One-third of our scholarships are renewable for up to four years, if students remain eligible.
ELIGIBILITY
We award scholarships to:
* Graduating high school seniors
* Undergraduates
* Graduate students
* Adult re-entry students
Who are attending:
* Four-year universities
* Community colleges
* Career/technical schools
* Graduate, medical and professional schools
* Teaching credential programs
Applicants don't have to have straight A's, be star athletes or be a student body president. We have opportunities for students with:
* Commitment to their education
* Potential for success
* Minimum GPA of 2.5 for many scholarships
* Participation in community service, extra-curricular activities and/or work experience
* Some financial need
Note that almost all of our scholarships require San Diego County residency (except for Cox Cares).
APPLICATION PROCESS
Our online application has been streamlined, making it easier and faster to complete. It should take about 45 minutes to fill out, with additional time to write two personal statements. Most scholarships do not require letters of recommendation or additional materials with the application.

February 3, 2014 DEADLINE to register as a new user in our online system (noon)
February 5, 2014 DEADLINE to finish an application and submit all additional materials (noon)
