Did attend the SGNP Event today. KK- tried reaching you this morning, are you back ?
Well, thanks to Vidya Athreya for pursuing me to attend this meet that had to be present at this imp event bunking office for a few hrs this morning. Was a good one chaired by Limaye ji.
Vidya Athreya, Vidya Venkatesh, Krishna Tiwari, myself and Pawan from Non forest team were present, besides the Forest team (Saste ji was not there, but met him at lunch).
The main audience was the Media - Print and TV. The objective was simple - creating awareness on the Leopard conservation and importance of the animal for Mumbai and what all NGOs are doing and what Forest dept is doing (removing encroachment etc and guiding all of us) and the need to do further. Vidya presented her project on Waghoba/Ajoba and Leopard movement and there was a Q&A Session chaired by Limaye ji answering questions we face from media on how to reduce the conflict and initiatives etc.
Clearly, as discussed last time in an Only-NGO meet, when self and Mitesh were present, the need is to conserve the Leopard in the buffer zone. SGNP has enough food available and hence no conflict. Issue is in buffers and the need is to work on the same. So, we shall keep working on those lines. Shall post the proposed details by a separate mail.
Also, Empower will be a part of the Leopard Census planned in the summers and we will nominate active team members for the same,
More when we meet.... in the meanwhile if anyone wants to share broad thoughts/ideas/suggestiobs on the area of our work - Leopards in buffer zone of Mumbai.....pls reply all with your views....

Hey All,
sorry for the repeat but the programme is confirmed for the 7th March and
we all (even the people this email is addressed to) cordially invite you
for the presentation of the final report of our project. The schedule is
below, however, becuase of logistical constraints, the schedule is mainly
for media. ALl of us can meet around 11 am as I guess if we outnumber the
target audience, then it might be a distraction for them. I too will be
there around 11 or so and request you all to be there that day at 11 am at
NIC.
I woudl also like to take this oppurtunity to thank you all for all your
support and interest (and some of you for tolerating my way of working). It
was a great opportunity for me to work in an entirely novel manner and with
so many interesting and fun people. I hope most of you will go on to work
with the Park.
Please confirm your participation (those who have not) and see you there on
7th at 11 am.
Also I may have forgotten some people? so please send me a personal email
in case I have forgotten anyone.
