Teamcenter 2007 Unified Platform is a new Siemens product. TC UP intents to join all Teamcenter products (Tecnomatix, Project, Enterprise, Engineering) in one software based in SOA, I think. However, this is going to take time. I took, last week, the TC installation training and I asked about the migration process from Enterprise to TC UP. They told me: It is early to think about it. The reason is this new product comes from TC engineering (IMAN). TC UP do not support all TC Enterprise functionality at this time.
I don't know about the migration process. I don't even know if there is documentation which talk about it. I will attend to UGS connection 2008. I saw in plmworld website a couple of conferences which take this topic. e.g.
Enterprise of Tomorrow,
Teamcenter's unified architecture will provide new opportunities for
value enablement for Enterprise customers while Siemens PLM Software
continues support for the value of existing Teamcenter Enterprise
deployments. This presentation will review assurances of Teamcenter
Enterprise continuation as well as introduce how Siemens will provide a
path forward to Teamcenter's unified architecture. An overview of
product capabilities released with Teamcenter 2007 will be provided
along with a discussion of transition strategies and next steps.
I'll let you know what I find it. but, what I am really worried is about the Licences. The license I sow of TC UP is completly different to the TC Ent license. I don't know how we are going to deal whit that. Does Anybody has a clue?
Thanks,
Sal
