hi,
Thankyou for your response.
actually I am migrating data from Teamcenter to ematrix.
Teamcenter store has Ideas files of format .asm nd .prt.
But actually when I download these files on my local disk,
the extension is converted to .mf1 and .mf2.
We are not able to extract such files.
I need to extract these files on localhard disk.

I may not able give you exact solution..But trying to explain some known things...It may help you out in understanding the situation...
I am not very sure what download you are taking about... (any custmization for Download action???)
The only chance that i can see how your assmbly/cmponents were converted as .mf1 and .mf2 is that,
when you are refference/Checkout out an Assembly (using TCE-OOTB client), you can get all the items in Model file(I-deas known format). That is what your .mf1 and .mf2 files. I-deas stores all the information in those files. From these files, you may convert them into PKG format thru I-deas.
If you are interested only in getting the .asm/.prt files, this is enough for you...
Or else, if you know translatoin services, that does your job, you can use them after that after export to Pkg format....

HTH...

Thnx for valuable information,
but I thinnk you are not geting my issue -

This is in reference to the Ideas tool file extraction.
The scenario is that Teamcenter is storing Ideas file in its database.
Actually an Idea file has extension .mf1 and .mf2,
but ( Ideas-Temcenter Integration) Teamcenter database is encrypting
the files into .asm and .prt files.(depending upon whether its an
Assembly or Part type)
Teamcenter provides an Ideas Manager UI (similar to NX Manager)
and it opens the Ideas file in UG Tool.
Just as UG files get encrypteg and stored in TC database, similar
happens to it.
For UG we have used UG clone utility for extraction of such files.
We need to find a similar utility or some other methodology for
extraction of Ideas file from Teamcenter.
actully I'm having the Ideas-Temcenter Integraton database dump now
when I open that .asm file in to UG NX tool system is showing "-the
plm xml document failed to load."

In case of any queries please revert back.

I think the map xml/dtd file either is missing or class(attribute)
part information in the xml needs to be altered .
The *.asm needs an xml file to load in UG NX and mapping is done based
on class type and attribute type . Pls , contact GTAC for the right
xml file .
