Humidity is expected to be around 82% , please drink electrolytes at "EVERY"
water stop to avoid cramps.

I just joined this group today.. :) not sure if how many emails of advice your had so far.. but hey why should I miss my chance to give my 2 cents..

Yes.  Please make sure you sip sports drink often, in addition to gu gel.

If you are used to using salt tablets, esp. runners that loose a lot of salt (you are one, if you have a LOT of salt deposits on your after your run), please consider using them as recommended.

Please rest well on saturday, no walking around too much.  Get in and out of expo.  If you waiting at expo for others, SIT.  Rest your legs, they might feel they can do a lot, especially since you have been tapering for 2 weeks, and you are in TOP fitness..   But please sit a lot :)

See you all strong at long beach.

Devi (and all),

Given the humidity, it is important to maintain electrolyte balance. What I normally do is drink the electrolyte drink (Powerade in LB) at every water stop where I am not taking GU. I take water with GU.

One thing to note is that per the Long Beach marathon website, they don't supply Powerade at every water stop. It is only available at even numbered miles apparently. So, it is important to consume it wherever available and manage your GU strategy accordingly.

We can talk some more about this at the Carbo load dinner.

Bharath.
