I wasn't on the call either.

Yesterday was a bureaucratic mess.

As I may have told you, the SFPD recovered my stolen truck a few days ago -- and promptly had it towed away. They call you, and give you a 15-minute window to come get it before they tow it. I was in the middle of a photo shoot, and didn't get the message for 2 hours.

Given that the truck is worth $1500 (maybe), the towing fees are $700, and the thieves likely did $1000 damage, I'm not in a hurry to get it back. Then yesterday I get another call from SFPD, telling me to go get my truck. I spoke at length with Officer Festa, who eventually assured me the police can waive the towing and storage fees. He tells me the truck doesn't appear damaged, and is drivable. He suggests I go down to 850 Bryant, go to the Southern Station that's housed there, and work it out. They're open 24/7 he says.

I take BART to Civic Center and walk to 850 Bryant. There are signs all over the front of the building saying that Southern Station has moved to 3rd Street. I go in anyway and end up at the Tow Hearing window, rolling in at 2:50. The office closes at 3:00. They lock the door and I sit there for an hour while the single cop behind the window processes the people in front of me. Eventually he gets to me -- and proceeds to argue with me for 20 minutes about whether or not the city should be responsible for people's towing fees, and whether officer Festa actually said what I heard him say. He gives me this form, and says, pay the fee, then fill out this form and send it in, and you might get some of your money back. I said no. He says, Festa ends his shift at 2:00 PM. Come back tomorrow when he's on and I'll call him.

So I walk back to BART and come home, 4 hours wasted.

Today I'll call Festa back, see if I can make any progress.

Yesterday my One Thing was to make OC travel plans. I did that.

Today my One Thing is to spend an hour on my website.
