((This isn't a new feature per se, but it's a change that could come up in support tickets, so I'm giving everyone a heads up))

A long time ago, in a land far away, a small minority of our clients asked us why, when they updated a prospect's name casing (bob vs. Bob) in Pardot, their update got immediately undone by the CRM.  We responded to this by making our sync process ignore case changes--so that if a marketer updated a name's capitalization only in Pardot, it would not get overwritten by the CRM.

Unfortunately, this meant that conversely, if a Contact in SFDC's name was updated from bob to Bob, that update did not carry in to Pardot.  Recently our clients have begun asking why we do this--since SFDC is supposed to be the system of record for default fields (unless configured otherwise).  Because of this, we have undone that change, and now when SFDC is the "master" for a field, it always updates Pardot--even if it's just a case change.

Cheers,
stokes

I think everyone will be happy :-)

The most common case (by far) is a prospect getting into Pardot with a lowercase name. Sales rep upper cases it in the CRM. We don't change it in Pardot and it gets emailed out as lowercase.

----
Side note:

We should probably eventually auto-uppercase names on form submission.

Will this cause records in Salesforce who's name formats were previously altered to trigger a sync now? Or will it only affect changes going forward?

Thanks!
Dana
