Hey y'all,

I just made an adjustment to our DNT-Header behavior thats worth mentioning here:

Some background:

DNT Headers are an option available in all the major browsers, and enabled by default in IE10. It basically says, "if you are a third-party, please do not cookie me and track my browsing". For example, you can enable 'em in Firefox by going to Firefox -> Preferences -> Privacy -> "Tell sites I do not want to be tracked". Presto! You are now sending that header when you load a page.

Pardot is not a 3rd party - we are a first party. Our clients place our code directly on their sites, and we track links that come directly to our servers on behalf of our clients. So, upon review, we are going to roll back some of our DNT changes, while keeping it configurable for our clients.

Prior to this change, if a Prospect clicked a Pardot tracked-link, and they had DNT enabled in their browser, we would not have recorded a tracker click. Now, we will. This has an added benefit of bringing us more in line with ET's behavior.

This feature is controlled by an Account Setting (available to all Administrators) that is defaulted to "off". If clients decide they really would like to strictly honor DNT headers, they can toggle the setting on, and the old behavior will resume.

Cheers!

Ian

This definitely affects links in an email. If a client is strictly honoring DNT headers, ie, they toggle back the "old" behavior, then we would not track an email click by a Prospect in a browser sending those headers.

We would still record "direct" activities such as a Form view, or a File download.

Does this affect links in email at all? For example, if a prospect had DNT headers and the client's Pardot account respected that preference, would we be able to track email clicks? Or we wouldn't be able to track email clicks or page views?
