Dear Councilor Marks,

Thank you for checking into this issue for Team George & Winthrop and for pressing Commissioner Gere about the importance of thermoplastic for public safety and high visibility at our new raised crosswalk.

After all, and I quote the immortal Wayne Gretzky: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!"

Cheers,
Ann

Hi Ann, I received a response back from my resolution regarding the marking of the crosswalk. Commissioner Paul Gere stated it will be done during the spring. I requested thermoplastic rather than paint however he stated that he would take that under advisement....Mike

In my opinion the city should repaint with thermoplastic which is far more reflective than regular paint and last 3-5 years. I will put this before the council on Tuesday.....Mike

They usually do the repainting in the spring.

Thx Ann. I'd need to check my notes for specifics but I know the mayor specifically provided for this maintenance.  :-)

Dear Councilors Camuso and Marks,

Thank you for all that you do for this community.  I've seen many improvements around the City of Medford, especially the Library, and they are much appreciated.

The raised crosswalk at 100 Winthrop Street has been serving us well, but I'm afraid the winter storms have taken their toll.  It is now almost invisible to motorists!

The safety lines must be repainted if they are going to be effective.

I know that the two of you care about this crosswalk as much as we do, and the contactor, Vincent P. Barone (cc'd here), was wonderful to work with.  By copy of this email I will let Vinnie know how much we appreciate his efforts.  Hopefully, this can get scheduled for later in the spring.

I leave it in your capable hands, and thanks so much again.

Happy Spring!

Ann
