So, after months of debating about which platform to use and many of us not having the time to implement. I've created a simple html only site. You can see it at
teamcfadvance.org.
- Checkout the issues, discuss, add your own, etc.
- Take ownership of an issue you find interesting, fork the repo and start coding.
Q. What! No CFML in the TeamCFAdvance website! This is heresy.
A. This is implemented. It's forward momentum. Rather than dancing around the which platform bush any longer, we've chosen to bypass that discussion for now. With this simple site we can tune the look of our brand, test out our ideas about what kind of information we can publish that will help the CFML community at large. At some point in the future we'll find some feature requires some backend functionality and we'll implement a CFML solution as needed.
Q. What tools were used in the making of the site?
A. Regular old HTML5 and Twitter Bootstrap. We're using Bower to manage site dependencies, Gulp is our build tool and Node's NPM manages our build dependencies.
Q. I've never used those front-end build tools before, can I still participate?
A. Sure, this website project is super simple and a great way to learn about using Gulp, Bower and NPM. There's a short how-to in the project readme and you can always ping me on here or @CreativeNotice. Also, Youtube has lots of great how-tos.
Q. Whose participation are you wanting/expecting?
A. Obviously those of us who have joined the promotions team have already expressed interest in helping spread the CFML love. But really anyone can help out.
