Just my opinion, but any project that people use, many of them from RIAforge for example, where the original creator is not longer doing CF work, should have one group that has some sort of ownership. If there are any issues with it, at least someone can contact this group to see if anyone has time to fix it...Bob (or anyone else) might just say they no longer work in CF so the developer has to figure it out. If this group has ownership of the project there is a place to ask about fixing stuff, and hey, you might recruit someone into the group in the process.

again, just my opinion...

Also, taking on "high profile", widely used projects like BlogCFC and ValidateThis - and actively doing maintenance on them - is something that will give TCFA credibility. These projects are something we can use to promote TCFA and when people look at TCFA's Github page and see well-known projects there, being updated, being released regularly, it will send a very powerful message about TCFA.

And that begs a question:

What is / should be our primary role? This question came up in the last Hangout we had (despite it being brief and fairly poorly attended): is our mission primarily to maintain various open source projects, or are we about encouraging / educating others? Reminder to all what we say TCFA is about:

I think it is important for us to become a "clearing house" for FOSS projects that would otherwise become lost and I think it's an important step to becoming a hub of education and empowerment. With BlogCFC and ValidateThis, we're one step closer - as long as we can proactively maintain them and continue making releases.

http://www.validatethis.org/ is giving  "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" response, Is validatethis site ownership also transferred to team-cf-advance?

The domain was not transferred and I'm frankly surprised the site remained up as long as it did. I believe we do have the wiki documentation from the site, however, available in the GitHub repo, so we could stand up a new docs site for it if someone has the time to tackle that. Otherwise, you'll have to run the docs from the repo locally if you need the references.

Standing offer, GoWest would be glad to offer hosting space if needed for this or any other team CF project. Glad to be of help any way I/we can.
