Chris, it was indeed true (that it was free yesterday).
As Denny noted when he wrote, it was a limited time free offer. These daily free offers seem to end at midnight UTC, so 6pm US Eastern time. I see you writing at 7:38p, so I think that explains what happened.
The cool news (for some) is that today’s book is their jquery vook (for the next9 hours, at least, as I write).
It’s definitely very cool of them to give these books away, no strings attached, each day. I’ve gotten several very compelling ones. Now I just have to find time to read them, or even just peruse some of them. :-)
