Hi there, everyone -
My Honors class and my Regents classes are doing different things at this time.
7 HONORS:
You may have heard that our class is currently working hard on debates. :-) The kids and I have discussed the fact that participating in a debate requires an outfit that befits the event. Consequently, I am requiring that each Honors student dress in a professional, business-type outfit on his/her scheduled debate day (TBA). Please be aware that I have alerted all of my Honors students to the fact that I do NOT expect anyone to go out and purchase any special clothing for the debate!! (As a parent myself, I have spent too much money in the past on dress shoes/slacks for my boys that were worn once and then never worn again....sigh.....) All I expect is that the kids' outfits show some evidence of attempting to differentiate their clothing from a typical day of school. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.
7 REGENTS:
Many of the kids in my Regents classes are quite excited about the Socratic seminars that we are currently conducting in class. Our first "practice" seminar was earlier this week, and we'll have another tomorrow. Some of you should be seeing the rubrics tonight, while others will see the rubric on Monday evening. These practice seminars were graded out of a possible 50 points, and although a great portion of my students did a solid job, there were those who were absent or who didn't perform as well as either I or they expected....
Consequently, I am offering a "Last Chance Seminar" on Wed., 5/6, after school. I have attached the flyer which I will be sending home with those children who are eligible to attend. It explains everything you need to know about the seminar. I will NOT be offering this opportunity again, so I do encourage those who have been invited to attend. All invited attendees will be notified by Monday.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
I hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather!
