Hi everyone -

Here's some information you'll need to know:

REGENTS AND HONORS:

• Tomorrow is our ELA post-test.  There is no study guide and the kids aren't expected to study for this test.  I'm kept "in the dark" about what is on it until the first class takes it, so I don't know how long it will be, nor what will be included on it.  It will count as a 4th quarter test, but the total points it will be worth remain to be determined (until I see how long the actual test is....).
• All students are responsible for bringing an independent reading book to class each day.  They are well aware of this, as well as the fact that each day they do not have a book, they receive a zero for a homework grade.  Many kids continue to arrive in class without a book, which is hurting their HW average for the quarter.  Please help to ensure that your child has an IR book to read.
• Locker clean-out is this Friday.  I've advised the kids to start bringing home some things now....those extra sweatshirts, binders, empty water bottles, etc....that you haven't seen since Sept. may be unearthed sometime soon.
• All classes continue to work on their historical journal narratives.  Students are working in pairs, and are expected to pull a fair share of the weight.  DUE DATES APPLY TO THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE ABSENT FROM CLASS, TOO!  Being absent does NOT excuse them from this work, as they are expected to access it on Google Classroom.  As a matter of fact, they are encouraged to meet their partners in cyberspace during our class time, in order to easily work together.  Partnerships were chosen by the kids themselves, and will not be dissolved from this point forward. Both participants need to be prepared to receive the same grade.  If partners are having any disagreement about the work, I will speak to them, but as they made the choice of co-worker, they must ultimately solve the problem between themselves.
