NX provides two default unit system files: one English and one metric. You can choose one of these unit systems when you create a new part file. The settings for that unit system are then applied and stored with the file. By default, all parameters, values, dimensions, expressions, etc. will be created in the same generic system of measurement.
Additionally, the owner of the designs will be able to see who accesses, when, if someone tries to access without permissions, etc., or block access to files in real time in case they want to stop collaborating with a user.
SealPath allows working with designs that include references to other parts or files. It is possible to import files with external extensions from sources such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Pro / Engineer, etc. and export files to other formats such as .DWF, .STEP, .JT, .SEP, etc.
CAD data files are built on layers of technology. The most fundamental layer is the CAD kernel, which you can think of as the geometry engine. The program interface feeds the kernel instructions, and the kernel produces geometry. There are many geometry kernels in existence, but only a handful are in broad commercial use. The big players are Siemens (including Solid Edge and NX) and SOLIDWORKS using the Parasolid kernel (owned by Siemens), PTC using their own Granite kernel, and Dassault Systèmes' CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE with the CGM kernel. Dassault Systèmes also owns the ACIS kernel. Autodesk uses the ShapeManager kernel, which is derived from ACIS.
