For those of you who are interested,

There is a brain training program that has some "exercise hearing" components, available at www.brainhq.com .

The exercises are: match syllables, match word order, follow instructions, identify pitch.

I did them for a couple of days and found their simplicity and ease to be quite helpful.

Progress is tracked, so you can push yourself to improve.

Also,

in case you were wondering... I had a look at a couple of pages of brain training programs (Google) and a couple of pages specifically on listening training. There were no programs that dealt with listening to words as brainhq does (one dealt with remembering names, I believe). Clearly this is a field where there is still a lot of growth to be had. There were a select number of research projects mentioned.

Lumosity has better pogress tracking, but they order your calendar for you, so there was no way to tell how many audio challenges they have - and at first glance it did not look like they had many (athough there might have been some under "memory" - someone may be able to confirm that).

That's as much as I can help at this stage.
