A brief update on what I have been up to:
Jim and I have been developing the course content for the TLP Moodle Photojournalism course. Jim has been developing the course content and I am now converting all of our assets into Moodle - today and tomorrow. Then you guys can begin to review and give me notes and Ill tweak accordingly. I also posted an update on the VLE course blog as to our progress. Check out my post and feel free to expand on it.
I will be busting my ass in Moodle to crank out the course over the next couple of days. I am planning to integrate all of the RSS feeds and link out to all the accounts Becca and Karen have made. Jim and I also discussed putting together a video for the presentation. I will do the screen captures, Jim can write and do VO and we're hoping Becca has time to edit if she's still willing.
Still getting it together for the morning on the west coast, but I will leave skype and google+ up all day if anyone wants to meet and discuss.
That's going in in my corner of the world! What's going in yours?
Additionally, if you have time and are interested, download WoW and create character, and I'll give you a quick lesson.
thank you all!
best,
jenee
Hi team!
Good morning all.
I am up on the west coast.
This morning I'll be in WoW for about an hour or so with Sasha if you'd like to join. After that I'll be available for WoW off and on all day.
I will also be avialable via skype and/or google all day - and checking email frequently. You can even call me on the phone - weird huh - 818.399.8913. If you want to meet as a group just tell me when to be there.
But most importantly, I'll primarily be working in Moodle on our course all day. Got the basic structure built, and most of Jim's content in. Still working in all of the links to various accounts. Need to add graphics to make it pretty. Should be done by the end of day.
Have questions for you all:
Karen: can you send me the links to and info for the facebook and twitter accounts again so that I have everything in one place?
Becca: I've gone through all of your emails and I think I have everything, but could put everything together in one email as well, so I have everything all together in one place and can double check to make sure I've got everything?
Jim: lots of questions for you!
1. I want to create assignments for your students creating each of these accounts and journaling and blogging and such. Sort of on this week you need to create X accounts and do X blogging etc. Can you give me a rough outline/guide as to what week you'd like that to happen. For example, week 1: create evernote account - or go to the class evernote account and create a note, or week 2 blog about your first project experience or whatever.
2. I did a little research yesterday and found a bunch of really cool web articles and even youtube videos on photojournalism that I can add to make or course more web media rich. I can embed the videos and link to the articles. I was thinking I would just try to put them into your basic topic outline as they seemed to fit. Is this ok with you? If you don't want to use them for your real class - I won't be offended. If you decide you like them and want to use them that's cool too. I will add them in as assignments. Do you have any other resources like that?
3. Do you have photos I can use as header graphics? For example: this week we're talking about news photography, this week we're on portraits, this week we're on history - give me a photo that represents that and I can make the headers for each week more pretty. So ideally 15 or 16 photos. Starting gathering stuff from the web last night, but then thought - damn - Jim's a PHOTOGRAPHER - doh!
4. While we're on assignments: on your class photo assignments on the syllabus, you list the workshop days for all assignments except assignment 1, is there a workshop day for that one? You also list all of the workshop days for all of the other assignments, but when do actually give them the assignment? Just as an example, let's say assignment 2 is workshopped on week 4 - when was it given to them? On week 2? Sort of like this week you should start on assignment 2, it is due for workshop on week X.
5. Do you have a basic bio - got the contact info in but a bio would be nice.
Ok that's it for now - gonna go play WoW for a bit with little Sasha, she seems sooo young!
best,
jenee
