“Wearable technologies will increasingly become part of many activities across society, in essence becoming the norm rather than the exception.”

“We are likely to have one device connected to a multitude of service providers, for example, virtual medical practitioners,” says Alexander, who has just returned from Finland’s Aalto University, where he contributed to a high profile European emerging technologies research project."

that is fascinatingly disturbing - next it will be contacts like this with increasingly sophisticated functionality. Will there be an app to find out what students are thinking or learning? Now that would be something and would bring a whole different dimension to assessment. Ha ha.

"It's a sleek, comfortable, four-sensor headband that allows you to control games, reduce stress, improve memory and concentration, and eventually to control devices directly with your mind."

Fascinating article by Katina, and a pretty cool mention of Alex.
Funny to think that pre-Glass (even pre-electricity) we were already recording and recalling both moving and still images, controlling actions and sharing thoughts only it was called seeing, hearing, listening, speaking, remembering, thinking and reflecting (storytelling) way back then.
Google Glass is an extension of what we already do, and the Stop-the-Cyborgs campaign is a natural reaction to that extra layering onto reality. What will the public reaction be when Glass becomes mainstream? Will restrictions be placed on what we normally see, hear, tell - even what we think - just in case we remember, recall and retell events?
Perhaps education in, and sensible application of existing anti-defamation legislation and privacy laws should be enough to assuage fear of potential misuse of devices.
