The Centre for the Public Awareness of Science at the Australian
National University is offering two PhD scholarships, beginning 2009,
in the area of science theatre.

The first scholarship is for a scriptwriter, who will research and
write original dramatic presentations on a scientific theme suitable
for older school students and the general public. The successful
applicant will have demonstrated skills in script writing and must
have an ability to adapt such skills to a science theme. A background
in science is not essential.

The second scholarship is to conduct research into the social impact
of science theatre, especially in small communities. Over the entire
course of the PhD program, this candidate will be expected to perform
science shows of the type currently presented by the Centre. He or she
will work closely with Centre staff to assist with presentations to a
variety of audiences and to assess these presentations as part of the
research program. The successful applicant will have had experience in
presenting science to the general public. A background in science is
desirable.

Applicants must have appropriate entry qualifications to enable them
to take up an Australian National University PhD candidature.
