I have had an interesting week.  After a number of weeks of prevaricating, we have got a new change proposal here from the management and I have been disestablished.  I was interested to note that even the online definitions of the word have not really been updated.  http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/disestablished

But to the real purpose of this e-mail:

I'm doing another workshop next month on technology, multimedia and ESOL teaching, only this time a bit longer.  Like 4.5 hours. Teachers.

Any ideas?
For example . . .
  1. Use of clips with a question: like muffled sounds (what were they saying from implication?)
  2. Use of news/weather, adverts, sports commentaries
  3. Role play: do it yourself . . .
  4. "Running dictation" With a youtube video on a computer at the other end of the class.

  5. Look-hear-say activities
  6. Webquests (Nellie: http://www.nelliemuller.com/WebQuestsbyNellieDeutsch.htm)
  7. Audacity/recording games??
I'm looking for ideas that work with big groups, eoucourage active learning and are a little bit fun and quirky.  Or a lot fun and quirky.

Hi Derek

This workshop was alot of fun for me and a large group of teachers. Requires preping a few people beforehand who can help as mentors.

Cheers

Looks really interesting Steven, I know the work that goes into
something like this!!

The question has morphed a little:

Finding Activities classes can do with a video camera, digital still
camera or cell phone.

I've been experimenting with the fact that many cell phones can record
dialogue on the cell phone. How can we use this?

And how is this for a cool idea: a local English teacher told her low
stream class there was a call phone dictionary. They texted words to
it and definitions came back. She never told them it was her cell
phone. :)

Are you already an Evernote user? It is surprisingly good at
organizing pictures/notes you capture, including from phones.

I am planning to run an article from a school/college/university on
digital/multimedia aspects of teaching in the May issue of MmIT Journal and
wondered if anyone on this list would be interested in submitting an
article? Some of the ideas below sound really interesting.

The word count could be from 750 words to approx 2500, deadline 1st April,
and I could email or post you a copy of the journal on request.

Thanks!
