MA project in classroom creativity / Zara Chowdhary

Hi Vijay,

Sorry for writing to you directly and not via the group. But I'm
looking for some ideas myself. I'm going home for Easter break for a
good one month in April. I have permission to carry out an Individual
project of my choice while in India which I will have to document and
report about when I return. Being on the Writing for Performance MA my
interest would definitely lie in film, theatre, radio or tv
writing...

But as I was looking up my opportunities I thought of Teach in India
and that perhaps I could find a way to integrate my research into a
children's based activity. So now I'm thinking of experimental
workshops with middle/high school kids encouraging original and
creative thought... We could create radio shorts, Public Service
Announcements (PSAs), short plays/films... Mind's going crazy with how
much there is to explore...

Can you suggest schools or people who would be interested in helping
me put this together? Or at least how I can go about it?

Will appreciate any suggestions or feedback you could offer!

hey zara,

what exactly do you want to do your project in? that might help you
decide how to approach this. experimental workshops that perhaps
encourage kids to express their skills in different ways: put up an
incident or an idea and encourage them to choose from among painting,
short story, poetry, skit and debate formats?

you would probably conduct a better and more focused study if you
restricted your sample to one school. the thing is, most schools
schedule their annual exams around this time, and will shut towards
the end of april.

i guess you should begin by contacting the school that you attended
yourself. in case you aren't in a position to do that (for whatever
reason), you could try contacting the british council office in your
city. i'm also circulating this facebook email exchange on our google
group.

my impression is the timing will make things a bit awkward...
