PPIV

Hi All

Warren has spoken to me about getting things going for the organising of the PPIV. 

Chris, I'm not sure what procedure is in terms of starting the process or appointing the Tournament Director, but I thought we should at least start the discussion. 

My feeling is that we definitely need to have the PPIV again this year and I believe that Warren is capable of running it, for what that is worth at this point in time. 

Chris, do le us know about procedure and then we can discuss from there :)

Hey Guys 

I also apologise for my late response. I also agree, we just keep in mind that exams exams start in a few weeks and after that will be nationals and holidays. Therefore if we want to get the ball rolling we'll have to start talking about/planning PPIV within the next two/three weeks.

I have been speaking with Warren and sought clarity structurally. He wishes to serve as both Tournament Convener and Tournament Director.

  

Warren's request was:

"The debating community is full of events this year, with the majority of institutions hosting these events in this, the first semester.

I propose that we, as Tuks Debating Union, host a tournament this year on September 24th. It will be based on the PPIV model that was used two years ago and which ran with a great deal of success.

As such, I request that you assign me as the tournament convener. I will organise a team to help with organising, based on volunteers from the union. I shall also ensure that all aspects of the tournament are considered and implemented with a high degree of competency. This will include venue, food and social organisation, as well as the interfacing that is required between us and the University of Pretoria.

I hope that you will consider this application, and inform me of your decision as soon as possible (in order to allow for enough time to market and properly organise the event)"

Please consider the above and vote on whether you want to ratify Warren Gertzen as Tournament Director and Tournament Convener of PPIV 2015. Have your votes in by Monday 25th at 10pm or you will be noted in abstention.
