Connecting with sqlplus

Hello!

I'm having trouble connecting with sqlplus to the service, what should service should I use for TNS:listener?

The error I'm getting is:

ERROR:

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect

descriptor 

I've tried connecting like the tutorial and via:

sqlplus64 username/password@//db.student.chalmers.se:1521/

Any tips?

Hi Robert,

Are you trying to connect remotely? The server only accepts connections from within the Chalmers network, so if working elsewhere you need to use e.g. ssh or remote login to a Chalmers machine and work from there.

No, locally within the chalmers network from my own computer.

It seems like it wants me to specify a 'service name' to use, any idea of what it's named for this database?
