Submissions are open for sessions to be included in the scientific programme of the 45th Union World Conference on Lung Health, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 28 October to 1 November 2014.
Session proposals must be submitted online by 15 January 2014.
In line with the conference theme "community-driven solutions for the next generation", The Union is particularly encouraging submissions from members of civil society and sessions about community-driven interventions. The theme was chosen to highlight the need to involve all stakeholders, from health care professionals and policy-makers to the people and communities they serve, in the design and delivery of programmes to address tuberculosis (TB) and other lung diseases.
"We will never defeat TB unless civil society and TB-affected communities play a leading role in the fight against the disease", said Jose Luis Castro, Interim Executive Director of The Union. "The Barcelona conference will be a great opportunity to focus on community-driven solutions, and we hope that many Stop TB partners representing civil society and communities will submit their ideas."
