In 1982 TV viewers were introduced to one of the first examples of a smart vehicle. KITT not only could drive itself but it could have conversations with its “driver.” KITT retired in 1986 and a replica is on display in an Illinois museum. That didn’t matter to NYCDOT when they sent a speed camera violation notice.
