City Request
The Mayor of Cupertino has asked staff to work on an event sponsored by the United States Conference of Mayors and Major League Baseball called the Play Ball Initiative (http://www.usmayors.org/playball/) to encourage youth in the community to get active in the sport.  Mayors across the country will be supporting a baseball events in their community in the month of August.   Our staff will be sitting down on later this week for our initial planning meeting to discuss how we can make an event happen in just a few weeks.  We would love to have you and the little leagues involved in the event! Hopefully this will encourage more kids to participate in our local Cupertino baseball leagues.

For right now we want to tap into your expertise with youth baseball and have one question for you to answer--What do you think should be included in our event to get youth to show up and participate?  Think “Field of Dreams,” If you __________ at your event, they will come.  We are looking for 1-3 ideas from each of you on this.  Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone else in your organization who also might have a great idea.  It would be great if you could respond by noon this Friday so we will be able to look all your suggestions at our staff meeting.  Thank you very much for your input! We will keep you advised our progress.

See you tonight!
Theresa
